How Do You Know

I was hoping that by delaying my review of How Do You Know by a few days that the stink of the movie would wear off. Nope, it's still terrible.

The movie revolves around a love triangle where Reese Witherspoon is trying to decide between characters played by Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson. Witherspoon plays a softball player who has recently been cut from the USA National team, and is trying to figure out what to do with her life. Rudd plays a corporate man caught in the middle of an investigation into his company which is ran by his father (played by newcomer Jack Nicholson). While Wilson plays a Washington Nationals relief pitcher who has a full supply of clothes for women to wear the morning after when they leave his posh apartment.

Unfortunately James L. Brooks wastes the best cast he is probably ever going to have.

I have mentioned before how Denzel Washington plays the same character in almost every movie. Owen Wilson seems to do the same thing, only the character that he plays is terrible. Please don't get me started on the fact that it is mentioned in this movie that his character makes $15 million as a relief pitcher for the Nationals. Nice piece of research on that one.

Paul Rudd is one of my favorite actors. He has played some really great characters both in TV and in film, but has been involved in a couple of duds in his past movies (did you see Dinner for Schmucks? Yikes). He is the only part of this movie that will keep it from being rated higher than the worst movie of the year Due Date.

I wish I had a better review for a movie that I was looking forward to seeing, but I'm pretty sure that the stench from this one is hampering my writing abilities.

I feel I need to make an official announcement to the world (and the comments section of this blog is the perfect place to do it).
I will never watch another movie that includes Owen Wilson for as long as I live. Amen.
